Weekend Fun in NH: Laughs, Screams, and Pumpkins

keene.jpgEnjoy the last weekend before Halloween! In addition to some beautiful weather (temperatures in the 60's) and folliage (peak in central New Hampshire), there are some scary, funny, and historic events going on.

Start off by going to the state's largest pumpkin festival in Keene on Saturday from 10am-9pm. Every year, towers of pumpkins fill the downtown skies with grinning, funny, and scary faces. In 2003, Keene set the World Record by displaying 28,952 lit jack-o-laterns. This year, they are looking to beat that record! In addition to all the pumpkin carving craziness, there will also be a seed spitting contest, food vendors, arts and craft vendors, a parade, a pie eating contest and fireworks display to close the festival.

Then head east to Epping to visit the state's largest haunted house at Haunted Acres. Recently featured on New Hampshire Chronicle, Haunted Acres has something to scare everybody. From the 1/4 Mile Nightmare Walk to the 3-D Nuclear Accident House, Haunted Acres is the ultimate Halloween experience.

Finally, return to Concord for the Best of North Shore Comedy show at the Capitol Center for the Arts. For only $19.50, you can enjoy some of Boston's best comedians, including Joey Carroll, who has done more tours for the USO than any other Boston Act. The show will take place Saturday at 8pm.

Of course, don't miss Karoke night at our own Jury Box on Saturday at 7:30!
