The Pierce Law Licensing Executives Society will host a presentation by Dr. Ashley Stevens of Boston University's Office of Technology Transfer. The "Speaker and Lunch" program will begin at noon today in room 200.
Dr. Stevens will speak about "Using Academic License Agreements to Promote Global Social Responsibility." Dr. Stevens has worked in the biotechnology industry since 1982, with both start-up companies and academic organizations. Before joining Boston University, he was Director of the Office of Technology Transfer at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, a teaching affiliate of the Harvard Medical School. Prior to that, he was Co-founder of Kytogenics, Inc., of which he is still a Director, Co-Founder and General Manager of Genmap, Inc., and was Vice President of Business Development for BioTechnica International.
This is the second LES speaker of the semester. Two weeks ago, they hosted Attorney Scott Daniels of Davis, Bujold & Daniels, who gave a well-received presentation on Markman hearings. LES plans on bringing more top-notch presenters so students can learn about current issues and opportunities in licensing. With the help of faculty advisor Karl Jorda, this student organization also supports involvement in Society meetings and seminars, both national and regional. The student chapter hopes to bring national recognition to Pierce Law students through these networking opportunities.
