Tickets are now on sale for the 2008 edition of JIVE. This year's extravaganza will take place this Saturday, November 15, in the Jury Box Cafe. The show will begin at 7pm with the doors opening at 6. Tickets are $5 if you buy them in advance, and $8 at the door. Admission includes snacks and beverages.
JIVE is an annual tradition dating back to late 1970's, when two students decided it would be fun to write a musical that showcased the lighter side of life at Pierce Law. These students were joined by several of the colleagues, and the show was performed at the Annichiarchio Theater in Concord. Professor/Pierce Law Legend Joe Dickinson recalls being very impressed by the performance. It was so good that the tradition continued, and the students wrote another musical.
Since then, JIVE has evolved into a talent show, where students and faculty sing, act, and even poke fun at each other- all in an effort to relieve the stress that comes at the end of each fall semester. The show has moved from the Highway Hotel, to the London Community Center, to the Shriner's Hall, before finding a home right in our Jury Box. In years past, we've seen Professor Bill Hennessey play keyboards, Tom Field jam out on guitar, and one male professor even dress up like Kimberly Kirkland! Last year, we saw Dean Huston and Dean Canning "dance," the Tortfeasors doing their best Rolling Stones impersonations, and Jim Iaconis light up the stage with some very funny stand-up comedy. What surprises are in store this year?
Tickets are on sale all week long in the Jury Box. Find Nathan Harris or Austin Padgett if you have any questions. See you on Saturday!
