Weekday Fun in NH: Dark Star Orchestra

Take a mid-week break and travel back in time to the days when Jerry Garcia and the rest of the Grateful Dead rocked to a tie-dyed legion of followers.

Chicago-based DARK STAR ORCHESTRA recreate setlists from the Grateful Dead's extensive history of live performances. The band uses meticulous detail to recreate the same equipment and stage setup as the Rock and Roll Hall of Famers. While Dark Star plays the same songs that the Dead performed, they infuse their own jams to recreate the authentic feel that made the Grateful Dead so special. One night, you can be transported to 1972 when the Dead rocked West Germany, the next night to 1978 at Dartmouth College, the next at Buckeye Lake 1993. Some nights, Dark Star uses songs spanning different decades and eras to make their own setlists.

Dark Star plays shows across the world, headling the annual Jam in the Dam in Amsterdam and regularly appearing the mega-festival Bonnaroo . They have shared the stage with former Grateful Dead members Bob Weir, Phil Lesh, and Donna Godcheaux, as well as Mike Gordon of Phish.

Dark Star Orchestra will celebrate their 11th Anniversary of keeping the Dead alive right here in Concord, NH, this Tuesday, November 11th at the Capital Center for the Arts. Doors open at 7:00.
