The SBA will be holding its first meeting of 2009 and of the spring semester in Board Room at 8:00 p.m. All are welcome to attend.  The agenda for this meeting has been posted in Pierce Law TWEN site.

 

Monday, January 19

Martin Luther King Jr. Day is a United States holiday marking the birthdate of the Reverend Martin Luther King, Jr., observed on the third Monday of January each year, around the time of King's birthday.It is one of three United States federal holidays to commemorate an individual person.

Tuesday, January 20

United States presidential inauguration, held every four years since 1937 (with 2 exceptions By Eisenhower & Reagan, on January 21st). The incoming/reelected President traditionally swears-in as close to 12-Noon as possible.

Pierce Law is inviting you Pierce Law's Inauguration Celebration to Monday's celebration at Pierce Law observing the inauguration of the 44th President of the United States. If you couldn't make it to D.C., come to the Jury Box starting from 11:30 a.m to 3:00 p.m.


Wednesday, January 21

Join Megan DeVorsey, Mary Sheffer, Ellen Lessard, Fran Canning and Priscilla Byfield each Wednesday at noon in the faculty lounge to knit a hat for a homeless person.  Bring your lunch, needles and chat, chew and knit.  Don't know how to knit?  Not a problem!  We will teach you.  All hats will be donated to the NH Coalition Against Homelessness, who run shelters across the state. 
 
Beautiful bulky weight yarn has been donated for law students by the Elegant Ewe on Main St.  They have also donated the attached pattern for this effort.  Needles can be bought at the Elegant Ewe (in the shopping center next door to the Draught on Main St.)

 

Thursday, January 22

In 1973 The Supreme Court overruled all state laws that prohibit or restrict a woman's right to obtain an abortion during her first three months of pregnancy. In a historic resolution of a fiercely controversial issue, the Court drafted a new set of national guidelines that will result in broadly liberalized anti-abortion laws in 46 states but will not abolish restrictions altogether.


Friday, January 23

The Career Services Office will be an exhibitor at the NH Bar Association's annual Mid-Year Meeting. Part of display will be a binder containing the resumes of students interested in working in NH this summer and/or after graduation.  

If you would like your resume to be displayed, you need to submit a one-page resume without a header (no name, address or email address) to the NH Resume Book posting on www.piercelawjobs.com by January 19th.
