When Dean Hutson cancelled school today due to the blizzard that struck the Granite State, many students were thrilled at the opportunity to spend the day relaxing or visiting one of New Hampshire's thriving ski mountains. However, for others, this snow day will not bring a day of rest.
Heather Flanner (left) is a Teaching Assistant for Professor Sophie Sparrow's Legal Skills class. Heather will spend the day grading memos turned in by her 1L students. "There's a big pile of papers that need be graded, so I'll make a pot of hot cocoa with little marshmellows and spend the day getting them done."
For 2L Adraea Brown, today will not bring her rest either. In the fall, Adraea was named to the Copyright and Entertainment Law Moot Court Team. After months of working on her written brief and prepearing for oral argument, she will be competing in the national BMI/Cardozo Moot Court competition this weekend in New York City. With only three days left until the competition, Adraea will be spend her snow day fine-tuning her argument as she prepares to represent Pierce Law against students from across the country.
Finally, some students will use today to play catch-up. 2L Jason Becker is in Professor Ann McCrackin's Patent Application Preparation and Prosecution course. Jason has a patent application due this week, but he spent the majority of winter break aboard a cruise ship and enjoying the beaches in Key West and the Grand Cayman Islands. Jason is excited to have a free day to finish up his assignment and get ready for the rest of his classes this week.
While some students will be spending today working and others will be having fun in the snow, we all found out that winter is far from over.
