The 17th Annual Public Interest Coalition Auction is taking place at 6:00PM at the Grappone Center, Marriott Courtyard in Concord.
The money raised at auction provides grants to Pierce Law students who serve public interest law organizations during the summer so they can use their legal training to help those who are economically disadvantaged, who would not otherwise have access to legal representation. These funds allow students to choose their summer employment based on a commitment to public service interest rather than on economic necessity.
100% of the funds raised go to Public Interest Fellowships and the auction is the sole source of funding for these grants!
In the past, students who received fellowships have worked at such places as New Hampshire Legal Assistance, providing low-income clients with access to health care and housing; Disabilities Rights Center, Inc., helping the disabled in many legal matters. Students have also worked for the New Hampshire Public Defender, National Education Association and The Way Home just to name a few.
Got news for the next Next Week @ Pierce Law? Send your events and notices to Calendar Editor Ann Moynihan at calendar@piercelaw.edu no later than 12 noon on the previous Wednesday. NW@PL is produced by the Pierce Law Communications Office and distributed to faculty, staff, and students towards the end of each week.
