Shauna-Kay Hall Talks SBA and More

As she wraps up the final semester of her law school career, Student Bar Association President, Shauna-Kay Hall, reflects on her experiences at Franklin Pierce Law Center.

Shauna-Kay found her way to Pierce Law after a professor at her alma mater, Syracuse University, gave a lecture on the need for lawyers with an engineering background. It sparked her interest to such a degree that after a few years in the workforce, Hall decided to pursue a law degree.

Moving to Concord was an easy choice Hall says, "the people here are so nice and welcoming." She's had experience adjusting to new places as her family moved to Bronx, NY from Jamaica when Hall was just twelve years old. "I still feel connected to Jamaica and the Bronx; they're both home."

Making the most of her time at Pierce Law, Hall campaigned for and was elected President of the Student Bar Association during her third-year. The nonchalant suggestion from a friend got her interested in the SBA and its service to students. Hall likes to think of the SBA as a forum for students to present new ideas and receive assistance if their having a problem. That vision is an obvious extension of her easy-going personality.

Hall's leadership experience should serve her well as she transitions into the workforce. Currently, she's spending several days a week on an externship with the corporate legal department of a nearby ball bearings company. The externship has solidified her desire to work as an in-house attorney. Hall says she likes challenge of having to deal with whatever comes across her desk because it keeps the job new and exciting.

When she's not focusing on classes or work, Hall likes to spend time with friends and family.
